MAPPA has been a sensational anime studio in the past few years. Especially in 2020, it literally carried the anime community on its shoulders.
It provides a dazzling way of animation along with detailed artwork. So, almost everyone who has watched their anime shows would be mesmerized by it.
If you’re one of them, you must also check other anime shows made by MAPPA. So, here is the list of best MAPPA anime of all time.
Best MAPPA Anime Of All Time
13. Zombie Land Saga
Sakura Minamoto dreams of becoming an idol but unfortunately suffers a tragic death in a traffic accident. After ten years, she wakes up in Saga Prefecture as a Zombie with no memories.
She meets a man who explains the whole situation of how she has been revived with six other girls of different eras and thus begins the journey of the greatest idol group in history.
Zombie Land Saga is a pleasant surprise, and it doesn’t sway away through the end. The animation is so good, and the opening sequences are done well.
It wasn’t an incredible action/mystery anime but a pleasant ride with lovable characters and enticing moments. So, if you want a breath of fresh air out of regular genres, try it out.
12. Terror in Resonance
When a strange video makes its way onto the internet, the mayhem begins across Tokyo. Two teenage who identify themselves as Nine and Twelve challenge the police.
Without any leads to stop the mass panic, police become helpless. A detective named Kenjirou Shibazaki gets caught up in the middle of all this and soon discovers the buried truth of teenagers.
Terror in Resonance is a promising anime that won’t disappoint you in the least bit. The animation is decent for the MAPPA standards, but everything is amazingly done.
Even if you don’t enjoy this anime as much as others, the ending is so emotional. It could become the best eleven episodes you’ve watched in a while.
11. Ushio and Tora TV
Ushio is the son of the temple priest who leaves a carefree life ignoring his father’s claims regarding the monsters known as youkai. But when his father was away, his regular chores lead him to a shocking discovery.
He finds a youkai sealed underground, and the beast introduces himself as Tora. Even though Ushio disagrees with freeing Tora, when a youkai outbreak occurs in the town, he is left with no choice.
Ushio and Tora anime perfectly capture the essence of the 90s shonen fights, and the action is simply amazing. Even from such an old manga, everything was well put together.
It might not reach your expectations but overall a great anime. MAPPA has done its part well with the animation and art departments. So, it is one of the best MAPPA anime.
10. Dororo
The story takes place in Japan’s Warring States period. Lord Daigo Kagemitsu makes a deal with the demons to prosper the village’s lands by sacrificing his unborn son.
Somehow he survives but with disabilities. A few years later, a young thief named Dororo meets a person whose arms are blades and eyes without vision. He guides him to a new destiny, and could it be related to Lord Daigo?
Dororo is a classic remake from 1969s anime. The action scenes are done well, and the animation is on point, considering it a historical setting.
The story is rich and full of feels. MAPPA never fails to impress the viewers, and this anime is a perfect example of that. So, if you haven’t watched this spectacular MAPPA anime yet, try watching it.
9. Banana Fish
Ash Lynx is born beautiful but ended up as a cold and ruthless killer. As he ran away from home when he was young, he has been adopted by Dino Golzine as a sex toy.
Now he’s in a rebellious stage of age seventeen and leaves the kingdom held out by the devil. While all these commotions are going on, Eiji Okamura, a young photographer, comes into his life.
Banana Fish is an incredibly powerful anime. But it is not a show that gives you a happy ending; instead shows you the ugliest parts of humanity.
MAPPA has done a great job with the character designs and animation. Especially with the beauty of Ash, it captivates the viewer. So, if you haven’t watched this amazing MAPPA anime yet, do it now.
8. Kakegurui
Hyakkaou Private Academy is an institution where the wealthiest sons and daughters are kept head only if they can read the opponent instead of athletics or reading books.
The winners who win the gambling rule and the losers weep. But when Yumeko Jabami enrolls in the academy, she will teach how a real gambler should play.
Kakegurui has one of the best art styles, and even though anime looks weird with orgasm scenes, it makes you awe in surprise most of the time.
MAPPA went all-in with the animation. If you don’t mind fanservice and weird little scenes, you’ll love this excellent MAPPA anime.
7. Inuyashiki: The Last Hero
Ichirou Inuayashiki is an old man who always tries to help others, but his family doesn’t appreciate him much, and he also learned that he’s affected by cancer. On the other hand, a high schooler is bored of his life.
When a shining light from the sky kills them both, they’re reborn with robotic bodies with unique abilities. One is compassionate and kind while the other one is bored. How will they use their abilities?
Inuyashiki: The Last Hero is a gem from MAPPA and one of the best short anime series out there (at least in my opinion). The action scenes are quite effortful, and MAPPA nailed the animation.
The ending definitely makes you scream, and in my opinion, it is the best ending after Code Geass. So, if you haven’t watched this underrated MAPPA anime yet, why don’t you give it a shot?
6. Dorohedoro
In the desolate town of Hole city, magic users kill people by using them as experimental subjects to test their magical abilities. When Kaiman got cursed by one of them, he has become a reptile man.
To break his spell and regain his human form along with his lost memories, he begins to hunt them one by one. But he’s not alone because he has a companion named Nikaido.
Dorohedoro is an instant classic with unique world-building and crazy characters. Every scene makes you go crazy, and the animation is pretty awesome for a dark anime.
But you’ll witness very violent and gory scenes in every episode. MAPPA once again proved its worth with this spectacular piece of art, and you shouldn’t be without watching it.
5. In This Corner of the World
The story follows a young girl from Hiroshima named Suzu who becomes a bride in the nearby city of Kure during World War II. Now she has to adjust to her new family in the new city.
Since it’s the time of World War, her life gets difficult with military raids and war. Still, she tries to find joy in her life with new neighbors and family.
In This Corner of the World is an Oscar-worthy movie, and the animation is truly one of the MAPPA’s masterpieces. With the setting, you can pretty much tell how the life of the characters will be.
But even you wouldn’t expect how much you’ll care for the characters. This amazing story will definitely make you cry, and even if you think it’s silly, just keep watching until you bawl your eyes out.
4. Attack on Titan: The Final Season
The story of Attack on Titan sets in a post-apocalyptic world where humans live inside the walls to protect against the man-eating giants known as “Titans.”
Eren Yeager’s mother gets eaten by a Titan, and he swears to exterminate every one of them from the face of the earth. But didn’t the whole perspective change in the final season?
The finale was the most important out of all the seasons as it enclosed lots of details, and the story was phenomenal. The character development of Eren was out of the world, and the show has gotten even more intense.
Even after taking up the project keeping in mind all these things, MAPPA has done a splendid job. The animation is not less than Wit studio, and it nailed every aspect with minute details.
3. Yuri!!! on Ice
Yuuri Katsuki reached the finals of the Figure Skating Grand Prix and suffered a crushing defeat. Depressed, he returned to his hometown with half-wanting to sake and half-not to.
Right at this time, the five-time consecutive world champion Viktor Nikiforov shows up with his teammate and inspires him. Now begins their never-seen journey of competing in the Grand Prix.
Yuri!!! On Ice is such a beautiful anime in regards to both the animation and the characters. Katsuki is an adorable character, and his struggle to overcome obstacles makes you love him over time.
The fluidity of animation with the ice, the addition of music is truly mesmerizing. The scenes are very detailed, and overall, it is a fantastic MAPPA anime out there.
2. The God of High School
Every year, a tournament is held in Seoul where high schoolers across the country participate to emerge as the strongest fighter. Whoever wins the competition will be granted any wish.
Jin Mori claims himself as the strongest fighter and attends the tournament to fight and win it at any cost. Is there a reason for it? Perhaps it is something related to his Grandpa, who he promised when he was young.
MAPPA has taken the animation of “The God of High School” to a whole new level. The intro, outro, vibrant colors to the art, everything is spectacular, and the pace was great.
The action scenes are insane with unique fighting styles, and the studio nailed every aspect of it. So, if you haven’t watched this amazing MAPPA anime yet, it’s time you do.
1. Jujutsu Kaisen
Itadori Yuji appears to be a normal student but has immense physical strength. During an incident at his school, he eats the finger of Sukuna to save a sorcerer’s life.
He doesn’t know that even though he gets the power to help people through the fingers, he might revive the King of Curses Sukuna if he eats all the twenty fingers. Who’ll stop him then?
Jujutsu Kaisen is definitely one of the top reasons for the MAPPA’s popularity in 2020/2021. The way it designed Gojo Satorou’s eyes, the scene with Itadori and Nobara is simply perfection.
In this anime, the best thing is definitely animation and action sequences. In that aspect, the animation studio had to do everything literally. So, if you haven’t watched this spectacular anime yet, do it right away.
Conclude
MAPPA has given us some spectacular anime series over the years. With such an amazing animation quality, we can pretty much expect how much effort the animators are putting in.
